The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), headquartered in Cairo, Egypt, is a supranational institution, established on 27 October 1993 and started lending operations on 30 September 1994. The principal business of Afrexim is the finance and facilitation of trade among African countries and between Africa and the rest of the world. It has 52 participating African member states and multiple institutional shareholders.
