Kenya Re is a government owned limited liability reinsurer established through an Act of parliament in December 1970 and commenced business in January 1971. Together with its subsidiaries Kenya Re Cote d’Ivoire (Which started operations in 2015), Kenya Re Zambia (Started operations in 2016) and Kenya Re Uganda-SMC limited (began operations in January 2020), they form the group. Kenya Re contributed about 86% of group premiums and about 96% of the group’s assets making it the core operating entity. As per GCR criteria, the rating conducted was a group credit analysis.
